Taste His Goodness
“now that you have tasted that the Lord is good” 1 Pet 2:3 NIV
What can we say about His goodness? The Psalmist commanded us to: “taste and see the LORD is good” (Psalm 34:8). Well, we have tasted and have seen that He is simply good beyond imagination. There is none like Him.
Now that we have tasted that the Lord is good, we may want to glorify Him in everything we are or do. His goodness comes with no strings attached – motivated by unconditional agape love. We are yielding more and more to Him not as a means of payment but gratitude of a heart that testify that He is worthy.
Let us concur with Apostle Peter: “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” (2 Pet 1:3).
Conversations with God
But seek ye first the kingdom of God Mat 6:33 KJV
How sweet is simple conversations that goes on and on throughout the day and even at night in waking moments. Such precious intimacy with the Lord that used to be the norm is a sporadic experience now. I wonder why and I see His blessings to be the culprits.
It is sad that the blessings become the distractions from the Source of the blessings Himself. I come to realize that it is not my job to take ownership and lordship of the blessings so much so that it takes my love from the Father.
The greatest test of our unadulterated loyalty to the Lord is the capacity to be above from the care of the world and seek and pursue His kingdom first and foremost. When our mind remains steadfast on Him and Him alone, the blessings become truly a blessing as intended by the Giver. And more importantly, we don’t severe our life line to our heavenly Father whatsoever.
I love simple conversations with Jesus Christ. I let go and come to Him as I am in simplicity and humility. It is a love affair with the divine that nourishes my soul and heals even my bones. It is like dancing as some say, moving in rhythm with Him every step of the way now and into eternity.
The discipline of silence
But the LORD is in his holy temple, let all the earth be silent before him. Habakkuk 2:20 NIV
We begin the journey to change ourselves by first learning the discipline of silence. At this time of chatter and noise, such may feel strange and difficult. But once started practicing, it is the pipeline for the heavenly resources to reach us.
Give up control and retract to the heavenly. Set this time of silence aside to hear Him speak to your heart. Disconnected from His power within, no wonder nothing seems to work for us. Lost in our world, we numb our soul with endless activities, noise and distractions.
Let us make a conscious choice now to bring ourselves and our family into the art and discipline of silence before the Almighty. This way we will get to tap the wisdom and power from above to lead a life congruent to His will and purpose.
Do you have a lot of plans and goals for your life? Start with such stillness that will teach your soul to depend on Him. It is a time well spent and the reward will be astounding. Look for the opportunity to be quite with Him. Let this be the legacy of your family for the time to come.
When we are aware of His presence, it would be the natural tendency to be silent and behold His majesty. On the other hand, when we lead an empty life is the time our soul strives to catch the wind so to speak.
Do you want less drama and more harmony in your life? Well, turn down the noise and tune to His voice within.
Wait on the Lord
“Be still. Be patient. Wait for the Lord to act.” Psalm 37:7 NIrV
When we want God’s will more than anything, we come to Him humbly seeking guidance, protection, and provision. And sometimes, the Lord makes us wait for years. Today, I received the answer to my prayers after praying for more than four years. Through it all I see His timing couldn’t have been more perfect. David tells us that he was patient while he waited for the Lord and God turned to him and heard his cry for help (Psalm 40:1).
I see when my prayer is about major decisions it takes a while for its materialization. Those waiting times are precious for they provide great opportunity for me to grow in closeness to Him. I know it was hard to go through those years in faith believing that God is working behind the scenes. At the same time, it was pleasant to live in expectation to see His glory in everything that was happening. The fact of the matter is that He in fact is busy doing the things we want Him do – guiding us, protecting us, and yes eventually providing for us.
Waiting on the Lord is motivated by the drive that we want His will above all. And God takes such earnest desires of ours seriously to provide us with the perfect gift. More than the gift itself, He also wants to shape us into the likeness of His Son Jesus Christ in the process. When everything is said and done, He makes everything beautiful in its and His time (Ecc 3:11).
I admit I failed miserable at times during the past four years. There were times I was far from being patient and still. At the same time, I testify to His grace who gave me the courage to come back and cruise through time with patience and stillness. I have seen both sides, one based on my efforts and the other in dependence on the Almighty. These are the treasures that remain with me for eternity.
We are instructed to be still and know He is God (Psalm 46:10). While waiting on the Lord, my experience reinforces that He is good – loving to plan the best for us; wise to know what is the best for us; all powerful to bring about His plan to fruition. Life is really an adventure as we walk with Him and the potential to grow in the process is limitless.
Dear Father, I thank you with deep gratitude as you close this prayer chapter in my life with great success. I waited for You to act, and act You did on Your time and in Your majesty. I had a ride of my life, tasted Your goodness and kindness, as I went through the peaks and valleys. Thank You Holy Spirit for making patience and stillness possibilities in my life. You are simply magnificent.
Mindfulness for Perfect Peace
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” Isa 26:3 NKJV
The source of our peace is the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:27). How come then as professing Christians and followers of Jesus Christ we find ourselves in having a peace that is much less than perfect at times? A closer look reveals that it is because we were not in tune with the Lord at such times.
What comes to your mind when we wake up in the morning? Are we worshipping and praising the Lord while taking shower or while on the road? Do we start our day in spending quality time with Him first thing in the morning? Are we relying on His power to do our job all day long? Whatever we are doing, are we mindful of the Lord Jesus Christ? In short, are we praying unceasingly (1 Thes 5:17)? The answers to these questions dictate the status of our peace.
It is only human to fall short from time to time. That is okay, but are we conscious of the peace gauge in our heart to sense and be right with Him sooner than later in such a case? When our mind is fixed on Him all day long and yes even at waking moments in our sleep we come to experience a perfect peace that passes understanding. What motivate us to let our mind stay on Him? The force behind such a life experience is our capacity to trust Him. The more we trust Him in every detail of our life; we tend to bring all matters to Him.
It is no use to have morning devotion and forget about Him all day long. It is important we have uninterrupted devotion with our Lord. As much us we need constant breathing of air, we need much more to breath His life on a constant basis all day and all night. Let us get plugged to such a life style through the power of the Holy Spirit and enjoy perfect peace unknown to the world whatsoever.
Father, I love You for You are trustworthy. I praise Your name for calling me to such a heavenly life style. You know me that I don’t have what it takes to remain in You even for an hour. But with Your grace I am more than able to be in You all the time. Make each second count as I go about this day and the days to come for Your glory.
Praise be to Your Holy name!
Drive out FEAR
“There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear” 1 John 4:18
Both faith and fear are about believing one way or another. Faith is believing the truth of the Word of God as the Holy Spirit ministers to our spirit. Fear is believing the lies of the devil working out their way into our mind, the battle field.
We are plagued by fear when we tend to neglect focusing on the Lord, fail to meditate on His Word, and unable to excercise our faith. Unless we walk in His love, we are always vulnerable to the vicious attack of the devil that inevitably produces fear.
There is no justification for fear to torment us for God has not given us the spirit of fear (2 Tim 1:7). Lets take heed to the prescription provided in Scripture to drive out fear. The key to living a life without fear is a function of our falling and remaining in love with the Father. At times we slip, but the point is to get up and be on track as we walk closer and deeper with God in love.
Father, I thank You for Your mercy when I fail short and become fearful. Help me grow in Your love so that I fear not but believe in You. Praise be to Your name for Your grace sustains me. I love You Father for You remind me again and again to fear not. May the only fear in my life be the fear of the Lord.
Praise and glory be to Your Holy name!
Being satisfied
“I would satisfy you with honey from the rock” Psalm 81:16
It is understandable to experience the human condition of wanting more. As we grow in the Lord; however, we need to come to a place where we are contented and more importantly satisfied in Him and Him alone.
The Lord has told us that He has come to give us life – more abundantly (John 10:10). Before we run with this promise and strive to gain more stuff, let us pause and see what kind of life He is talking about. He notes that the life – abundant life – is Jesus Christ Himself (John 11:25; 14:6).
When we fall in love with Him, satisfaction becomes the norm. Our inner being rejoices in Him for who He is. Once we are lost in Him, rest assured that whatever we do, relate, have or be is also anointed to bring full satisfaction to our soul. Let us turn our eyes from futile busyness and focus on our Rock – the beloved Lord from whom all blessings flow.
Father, I love you so much for opening my eyes to behold Your glory. Yes, You are more than enough. Just usher me into Your presence so that I can have deep gratitude to overflow with much praise and thanksgiving.
